A new statement by Tel Aviv says five-hundred fifty-eight more settler units will be constructed in East Jerusalem al-Quds. This is the latest in settlement projects which Israel has been speeding up over the past years. Israeli settlements are illegal under international law. The UN and much of the international community have condemned Israel\\\'s expansionism as illegal. They want an end to its settlement activities in Palestinian territories. The settlements are also one of the main obstacles in talks between Israelis and the Palestinian Authority.
